I love picking out presents. I much rather find someone the perfect gift than build a list of my own (which leads to a lot of frustrating indecision on my part for my family and friends).
I was perusing Kate Spade’s gift guide and found some really adorable things (which is too bad because my holiday gift shopping is done)!
I can really appreciate a good candle, and I love the one above with stripes! I think frames are a great BFF gift and you can put a memorable photo of you and the recipient in it (I know, I’m a total sap). I also love practical gifts – like this fun USB and these glittery coasters.
Have you been decorating for Christmas? I know I have! Decorating in a small rented space can sometimes be a challenge, so I wanted to share some of my favorite decorations from around the loft.
I love bottle brush trees. They are small and come in so many sizes and colors (you can even make your own! My favorite tutorial here). The below are from World Market.
Our tree is covered in adorable felt ornaments. That little penguin is so cute!
I feel like since last year bottle brush trees turned into mason jar snow globes have been HUGE! I made the below last year when I refused to pay an arm and a leg at a particular store for one…Plus super easy to make! Just hot glue a tiny tree to the lid of a mason jar, add snow and screw on the lid. Viola!
I adore that tiny tree ornament! It’s definitely one of my favorites!
Casey and I decided to go with a real tree this year, but to ease us into it we got a tiny table top tree from Whole Foods (they had a great selection and you don’t have to worry about a stand). We love this because it’s small-space friendly and hard for Lola to attack!
Last but not least are stockings. I got these at West Elm a while ago. I just added a blue ribbon to mine, but I’m thinking of replacing it with a huge homemade pom pom!
I completely admit that I love all things crafty/DIY. Below I think are great gifts for crafty girls (friends, family, whoever!) I actually think people who love to DIY are easy to shop for (there are so many things that you need to keep your projects going).
I am slowly falling in love with yarn, and who wouldn’t? Pom poms are so in right now. Loving these super chunky (and affordable) Martha Stewart yarns from JCPenney.
Bright and sparkly bobbies from Ban.do are perfect for crafty ladies because pulling your hair back is almost essential to DIY (we don’t need any hot glue gun catastrophes).
On a similar note, this book of braids and buns is amazing – and useful all year long!
Finally, I love this little “made with love” cookie stamp is perfect for those who love to bake.
Are there any crafters or DIY mavens on your holiday shopping list?
So, we’ve been iced in practically all weekend. Needless to say, Casey and I are getting cabin fever. So I thought I’d share what we’ve been up to.
Wrapping gifts and mailing out my Christmas cards. (If you are looking to step up your calligraphy game – check out Blue Eye Brown Eye).
I finally put together my light up dachshund from Target. Lola is not impressed.
Because our loft building refused to salt our parking lot, we’ve been super stuck. So naturally, Casey whipped out his hockey skates and skated the parking lot.
Mostly, there’s been a lot of this.
Finally, a quote that sums up the current situation:
The holidays always seem to fly by! If it were up to me, I would cram every last thing I could think of into EVERY day of the holiday season. Let’s squeeze every bit of holly jolly out of December!
Since most people agree that’s not sane (my husband included), I’ve made a list of the top things I want to do this year during Christmas. Granted, I’ll probably do way more than this, but this list is a good jumping off point. Also, since it’s so reasonable, I won’t be disappointed if I don’t get anything other than this list done.
What are the things you are looking forward to this Christmas? I highly encourage you to make a list of things you want to do this holiday season rather than things you want to get.
