So lately I’ve been really wanting to update our bed. Casey and I have had the same bedroom set for a few years (since we started living together).
I really love this entire platform bed trend – but we’re at a point where we would have to update a lot of things for it to not look too disjointed.
Is there anything in your home you’ve been craving to update?

So (at least in Texas) we’re in weather where it could be warmish during the day, but chilly at night. Which means, having several stylish blankets around is ideal. They’re great for Netflix marathons and for the patio with your gal pals.
I got an amazing blanket when in Costa Rica and it got me searching for some more to keep the house stocked. I’m borderline obsessed with that white blanket from The Citizenry. What do you look for in a blanket?

I’ve been having some serious home envy. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE our loft – but sometimes it’s hard being in a rented, small space.
So, I’ve been letting out my frustrations by pinning, and below are some of my current favorites.
I’m a little obsessed with the pop of color in this all white kitchen. (original pin)
I already have similar chairs, but I am in love with this set up. (original pin
These lofted ceilings are great! (original pin)
Old school locker bins are kind of an obsession of mine. (original pin)
I love chalkboard walls. I also love bison skulls. (original pin)
I doubt this is the last time I will share my home cravings. I can’t wait until Casey and I have a permanent space we can make our own.
So, I love no slip hangers. I found decently priced knock off huggable hangers at Nordstrom Rack, but I thought it would be fun to make my own.
I have all these wire hangers from the dry cleaners and I thought it would be super wasteful to just throw them away. I’ve seen tutorials were they use multiple wire hangers, but I wanted to keep mine super thin and just kept it one. Also, side note, this is kind of a long project. Dependent on how fast you can wrap, it takes 40 minutes to an hour to make one. So, it’s a good project for TV watching!
Here’s how mine turned out:
I used a bright colored yarn and did it the way you do for friendship bracelets. Just tie a knot at the beginning and then make a number four and pull the yarn through. Keep repeating this until you’ve covered the entire hanger. I don’t recommend just wrapping it because when you hang clothes on it, it may unravel – eek!
These could be a unique house warming gift or gift for a recent grad moving into a dorm with limited closet space (these are super thin, so they save serious closet space).
I’ll be completely honest. Typically my half of the desk Casey and I share is a complete mess. Partially because we’re still figuring out how to use the space in our loft.
But over the past year I’ve been able to clean up my act (well, at least a little bit). Here are some of my favorite things to keep me organized.
I LOVE binders. I just can’t help it. Lately, Target has had some pretty amazing options to choose from (check out those polka dots and stripes). I like to put clear sleeves in mine to file away important documents, notes and receipts. You can find some like it here.
How bad a is this notepad?! I mean come on. Skull and cross-bones with a “do or die” mentality. Now that’s what I call a to-do list. Thank your Rifle Paper Co.
Next, let’s talk about pens. And pencils and chalkboard markers because I know you are the kind of person who wants it all. Let me tell you, you can have it all dear friend. I like to put mine in mason jars because they come in a trillion sizes. Okay, like five – but still, there’s a mason jar for everything. Also, how depressing would your workspace be without a photo of your favorite person and a doodle from a BFF? All displayed adorably by this over sized chevron clothespin (I found mine for $1 at Michaels).
Finally, I love having sticky notes in a variety of sizes. Working in PR, you find yourself flagging magazine articles a lot so I love having cute little ones in a variety of colors. I got the ones above as a gift and it’s great that they come in their own holder. Jonathan Adler has lots of other cute desk stuff, too.
Well I hope this helped you jump-start ideas for organizing your desk! BTW I’m having so much fun using the A Beautiful Mess photo app. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you probably should.
